Mission Tour 2009

Mission Tour 2009

We are getting the RV ready for our first sixty-day camping missions tour for the summer of 2009.  We are looking forward to starting out on June 23, 2009 heading north on I-55 for Tom Sawyer’s Mississippi River Resort in West Memphis, AR.  Continuing on I-55 N towards St.  Louis and  I-70 West to Kansas City for a couple of days.  Next we go north on I-29 on the edges of Nebraska and Iowa with a stop in Sioux City.  Our journey takes us for a night or two of rest at Cabela’s in Mitchell, SD.  We then leave Mitchell, SD for Wall, SD for 5 nights home of the world famous Wall Drug Store.  From camping in Wall we will be touring Badlands National Park…Oh, what beauty God has in store for us.   Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park here we come and we will enjoy that for five days.  We then enter Wyoming and get to experience the beauty of  Devil’s Tower.  I plan to drop The Holy Bible off at Devil’s Tower.  Then we travel through Gillette finally overnighting in Buffalo, WY.  Even Colorado is on the list as we overnight it at Blue Mountain Village in Dinosaur, CO.  Now this next few days are what I am looking forward to.  Moab, Utah for six nights.  We will camp there and drive out touring Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park.  I’ll be snapping pictures right and left.  Next stop is Page, AZ at Lake Powell for five beautiful days.  Flagstaff, Phoenix and Tuscon here we come.  We will enjoy God’s beauty of three days in Sedona, AZ.  We will enjoy Tombstone, AZ for three nights.  Believe it or not, our next stop will be in Truth or Consequences, NM.  Next our journey takes us to the beautiful area of Santa Fe, NM.  We plan on spending eight beautiful  days of touring  and much needed rest in beautiful Glorieta, NM.  We plan on visiting our good friends and retired missionaries Jim and Carolyn McAtee who are full-time RVers and volunteering at Glorieta.  From New Mexico we are headed to Amarillo on to Oklahoma City to Ft. Smith and to Little Rock for a few days.  Finally we will head back to Memphis for a few days then down I-55 S from Memphis to our earthly home in Madison, MS.  Our trip should cover almost 5,000 miles in about 58 days of which driving time is 81 hours and 12 minutes.  I hope we can meet on America’s highways and campgrounds somewhere along the way.  Who knows, maybe we will have the opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus and pray with you.  May our Lord be with us all.
